Terms of Service

By accessing the 2chan danbooru website ("Site") you accept the following Terms of Service. From that point onwards, 2chan and danbooru will treat your use of the Site as acceptance of the Terms.

  • The Site reserves the right to change these terms at any time.
  • If you are a minor, then you will not use the Site.
  • The Site is presented to you AS IS, without any warranty, express or implied. You will not hold the Site or its staff members liable for damages caused by the use of the site.
  • The Site reserves the right to delete or modify your account, or any content you have posted to the site.
  • You will upload content that is of high quality.
  • You understand that there may be content on the Site that does not appeal to you or you feel is morally wrong.
  • When you submit, post, or upload any Content to the Site, you confirm that you possess the full rights, power, and/or authority to grant use of Your Content within the Site and terms.
  • You accept that the Site is not liable for any content that you may stumble upon.
  • You are using this site only for personal use.
  • You will not use any automated process to retrieve or index any portion of the site or site contents, with the exception of public search engines. Search engines will have to obey the robots.txt.
  • The operators of the site are not entirely held to these terms.
  • When using data from our API, RSS-feed and/or if you are serving content from our servers directly (instead of hosting it yourself), you will not display ANY advertisements or run paywalls. This applies to all bots, apps and websites.

Additional Considerations

In addition, you may not use the Site to upload any of the following:

  • Off-topic: This Site is an gallery for Japanese-themed art. Anything not drawn by a Japanese artist must be drawn in a Japanese style or feature Japanese characters/copyrights. Posts that do not meet any of these criteria will be deleted unless given prior exception by the moderation team! Photographs of cosplayers, figures, JAV models, or prominent figures in the industry are also acceptable.
  • Child pornography: Any photograph, rendered image or photorealistic drawing or movie that depicts children in a sexual manner. This includes nudity, explicit sex, implied sex, or sexually persuasive positions.
  • Bestiality: Any photograph, rendered image or photorealistic drawing or movie that depicts humans having sex (either explicit or implied) with other non-human animals. With the exception of furry art.
  • Toddlercon: Toddlercon is not any longer allowed.
  • Watermarked: Any image where a person who is not the original copyright owner has placed a watermark on the image.
  • Screen captures: Screen captures are not allowed unless given exception due to work in compiling said screen shot.
  • Poorly compressed: Any image where compression artifacts are easily visible.
  • Doujinshi/Manga/Light Novels: Do not upload these. Comic strips are fine (4koma)! Cover pages pages are not longer allowed, too!
  • Grotesque: Any depiction of extreme mutilation, extreme bodily distension, feces.
  • Motivators: Motivators are not longer funny. Upload now the high quality image instead.
  • Paysites/Paid content/Paid Rewards: This should be plainly obvious, but apparently it needs to be listed here.
  • AI-generated: If you choose to upload AI-generated AI-assisted content, you must explicitly tag it as such and make sure said content is indistinguishable from non-AI artwork.

Privacy Policy

  • The Site will not disclose the IP address or email address of any user to anybody including law enforcement except to the staff. Unless this Site is obligated to by japanese law enfocement.
  • The webserver and webcaches also log IP addresses, user-agent, request-URI, date, time and referer while accessing any page or image. This logs are used only for creating anonymized usage statistics and for operating the server and are deleted automatically every week. In no moment this informaion is shared with any third party.
  • This Site uses cookies to store your settings you configure on the site and for login purposes. If you do not like them, just delete them.
  • The Site is allowed to make public everything else, including but not limited to: uploaded posts, favorited posts, comments, forum posts, and any edits made to the site. If you do not like this you can upload images anonymously without account but may not edit, favorite, score or comment posts.

EEA (European Economic Area) and the United Kingdom

This site is not intended to serve data subjects within the European Union. If you are concerned about GDPR or other laws within the EEA and UK, please don't use this Site. For more information on the member states of the EEA, please click here.

DMCA

This site is not under the jurisdiction of the USA nor Canada. The DMCA does therefore not apply. For regular takedown request, please see next section.

Takedown Eequests

You can report posts for review or takedown by using the 'Report post.' field above the image container. You will have to enter a propper reason. Reports with no reason or a inproper described one will be ignored.

Proper reasons may be
(non exhaustive list serving as example)
  • Violating the TOS for this Site.
  • Copyright infrigment under the japanese laws. You have to provide enough proofs.
  • Duplicate entries. Including different sizes/qualities.
  • Broken images.
  • Bad hashes or othe inconsintencies.

If you encounter incorrect or lacking tags please edit them by yourself as this is not a reason for reporting.

NovelAI

In regards to NovelAI or other AI art generators, please be aware that this Site is not an AI site and we do not use your works for AI generator training. Danbooru is an anime imageboard where users post artworks they love. Danbooru is not affiliated with NovelAI or any other AI generators, and we don't support or endorse what they do. Removing your work from Danbooru will not remove it from NovelAI's systems. You must contact NovelAI at contact@novelai.net if you would like to ask them to remove your work from their AI generator.

NovelAI is based on Stable Diffusion, which is trained on billions of images from thousands of sites across the entire internet, not just Danbooru. This includes sites where artists may have posted their works themselves. You can use HaveIBeenTrained.com to try to see if your works have been included.

You can reach the admin of this Site via the forum. Just open a new thread with the question or comment. If you want to report posts for review or takedown you should use the report function above the image within the post.

The webmaster is available per email to neko＠2chan。jp for technical purporses. Please note that the webmaster will not moderate this Site. It's job is to run the infrastructure to run this Site. The webmaster doesn't even have an account at this Site, since this isn't a must have for running the server.
